Workcover is a large part of our practice, because of the demographics of our catchment area.  When an employee with any injury comes in we take them straight to our treatment room for triage by our nurse.  She will assess the condition of the worker and the injury, clean up any wound that may be present and call the doctor to attend to the patient.  Payment for Workcover injuries/consultations is the patients' responsibility.  The injured worker is given a Workcover certificate and an account and are asked to present both to their employer or workplace health & safety officer.  The company has the injured worker complete an incident report and in most cases, a Workcover claim form which is then submitted to Workcover.  If the claim is accepted Workcover then pay our account.  

We work very closely with the injured workers employer to get the patient back to work in a timely manner. We will always contact the patient's supervisor to see if alternate duties are available before certifying the patient totally incapacitated.  The patients' medical situation is always taken into account as is confidentiality.
